Your barrel comes with a connector kit and full instructions. You will also need a screwdriver and an electric drill but everything else you need is supplied and it can be fitted in less than 5 minutes.

Our barrels have a specially designed connector to the down pipe that stops excess water overflowing from the barrel and diverts it back down the down pipe.

Yes, to protect the rain barrel from expanding under freezing conditions you should empty it if the water temperature drops below freezing.

Untreated rainwater can be used to water all outdoor plants, including edible plants, however if wishing to water edible plants, consider not capturing the first ince of rain which main contain contaminants from the roof.
What about mosquito larvae?

Wherever there is standing water there is the chance of mosquito larvae growing. The tanks are enclosed by integral planters. However, for peace of mind we recommend using one of the many options on the market, for example, Mosquito Dunk or Mosquito Pellets
